there is a store nearby that i have always gone to, from when i was a child til now. i remember going as a little girl to the basement of the shop where who knows what you would find. we've come full circle as now i take MY children down to the basement. my little girl timidly creeps down the stairs while my four year old boy practically marches down the stair..no fear must be his motto. cracked. me. up. anyways, new and old things are in abundance. estate sale finds, mostly i think. recently i found vintage doll clothes for ella's American Girl doll and this other smaller doll that is know "Felicity's Sister." these clothes are not perfect- some are soiled here and there. a few weren't even finished in the back as far as a snap or button. most of them are handmade! i take that back- they are perfect. they are perfectly feminine, sweet, vintage, antique, useful, and shabby. all those descriptions I LOVE so very much. and the wonderful thing is, my ella-girl loves the clothes too. my favorite is this pair of hand crocheted mittens in ivory. they fit the American Girl doll perfectly. as do the hand crocheted socks. it's just darling. there's even a bonnet and a cape. the fabric is soooo vintagey, i love it. the ribbon- oh...the RIBBON. beautiful. i got those doll clothes possible more for myself than my daughter! i think i may be able to make simple patterns to create more clothing for the dolls...or, show my grandmother, and see if she can help with that project. anyways, you never know what you can find in specialty/antique stores. this store is a variety of things. Vivians has antiques, collectibles, thrift-store things, dishes, decor, cards, toys, prints, and this very friendly cat that you find everywhere. it's honestly a fun store to browse...not set up like a thrift store, mind you, but one that you actually can look through without feeling frazzled. and you know, some stores are like that where you can't even think. this one, not close. delightful people working there too!
i suppose that was me on a tagent...well...other findings lately are the following:
i have been so wiped out in the evening for some reason. ugh. like tonight. have not accomplished. a. single. thing.
philip has been a lot less stubborn/defiant with certain things.
ella is still a superb student especially with her handwriting, her printing.
baby is getting sillier by the day. he does so many funny things.
baby is a climber. my dad said today.."like YOU!" ahaha..very funny. i guess will david does take after me lots. i loved climbing trees as a kid.
baby climbed upon this school desk in the living room we use, onto the PIANO. yes. THE. PIANO! now THAT was a scary finding. geesh....so that desk is now in the basement. we've had to remove lots of things lately. what. a. climber.
not having cable tv anymore is a slight adjustment but we've done great. i am so glad full episodes of some of my favorite shows are available on the internet. the kids have watched less tv over all. except when we have Qubo on. oh well. lol.
another finding is that my children are so imaginative and i never really got to observe that so much until recently. i like to overhear when they play. i love it when philip and ella are best friends and playmantes. it is so sweet.
buddy has found out that will david does love him, but he needs to be nicer. philip asked me the other day..."why doesn't wd love me?" i was taken aback..."what? he does!" philip: "no, he doesn't." me: "well, you know...you should hug him more, speak softer to him, don't try to hurt him..." and philip: "oh." lol.......lol....lol.....lol......so there's been a change there. philip sees how the baby goes to ella and just loves on her and i think he wants that now, desires that in his heart. i am so glad that changed for him a bit...
another finding: i've been staying up too late
and another: i can run the nature trail by our house!
and another: it's hard for me to get to church when rich works. it's mentally and emotionally hard.
i've found that i need to take control of what affects me emotionally and mentally...there's certain situations i have had to consciously tweak so i don't go there, go where i am upset or hurt. hopefully, my family and i are better for it.
i have found that i do not want to buy clothing anymore. totally not my cup of tea. ella needs new shoes, new tennis shoes desperately, and i am dragging my feet to get it done. the girl just wears those types of shoes down fast.
my sweet has found that i am still sweet, beautiful, and precious..thanks, hon!!!
now, time to go find the off switch for the day!
blessings...
ps: here is a photo (from Christmas! LOL) that is of philip (buddy) sitting beside my brother (uncle bill) as he read the Christmas Story.

that store sounds amazing - i think it's a lot more fun to *discover* things at a store like that, than to find them neatly laid out at a retail store.
my littlest is a climber, too - so i feel your pain! he used to stand on top of the dining room table. frequently. oy.
congrats on the running!

I like how you consider these things "findings" -- like discoveries, little epiphanies, thinking points.

Awwww! This post was so real and sweet. I loved it. How fun to find some older clothes for Ella's AG doll! (That store sounds awesome!) I still LOVE my AG doll. LOL. I need a daugther! LOL.
And I think it's so cute that Philip is wanting to be closer to Will David. Just so cute!
